قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، ثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، أَوْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ قَالَ:

قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَوْمَ صِفِّينَ: اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ أَهْلَ الشَّامِ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ ؓ: « لَا تَسُبُّوا أَهْلَ الشَّامِ جَمًّا غَفِيرًا، فَإِنَّ بِهَا الْأَبْدَالَ قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا

Translation

✧ On the day of Siffin a man said: O God, curse the people of Syria. Ali ؓ said: "Do not revile the people of Syria as a whole, for among them are the abdal." He said it three times.
