✧ Caution against the trial of wealth and abundance of money

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ سَيْحَانَ، ثَنَا حَرْبُ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ، ثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ قَالَ:

عَادَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِلَالًا ؓ فَأَخْرَجَ إِلَيْهِ صُبَرًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ فَقَالَ: « مَا هَذَا يَا بِلَالُ ؟ » قَالَ ؓ: تَمْرًا ادَّخَرْتُهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ. قَالَ ﷺ: « أَمَا خِفْتَ أَنْ تَسْمَعَ لَهُ بُخَارًا فِي جَهَنَّمَ ؟ أَنْفِقْ بِلَالُ وَلَا تَخَافَنَّ مِنْ ذِي الْعَرْشِ إِقْلَالًا

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited Bilal ؓ, and he brought out to him piles of dates. He said: "What is this, O Bilal?" He ؓ said: "Dates I have stored up, O Messenger of Allah." He ﷺ said: "Do you not fear that you will hear a hissing for them in Hellfire? Spend, O Bilal, and do not fear decrease from the Owner of the Throne."
