✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out at noon and found Abu Bakr ؓ in the mosque. He said: «What brought you out at this hour?» He ؓ replied: “The one who brought you out, O Messenger of Allah, brought me out.” Then ʿUmar b. al-Khattab ؓ came, and he ﷺ said: «What brought you out, O Ibn al-Khattab?» He ؓ said: “The one who brought you both out, O Messenger of Allah, brought me out.” Then ʿUmar ؓ sat down, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ began talking to them. Then he said: «Do you have the strength to go to this palm grove, so that you may get food, drink, and shade?» He said: We said: “Yes.” He said: «Come with us to the house of Abu al-Haytham b. al-Tayyihan al-Ansari.» The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went ahead of us, greeted, and sought permission three times, while Umm al-Haytham ؓ was behind the door listening to the words and wanting the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to grant her more of his greeting. When he ﷺ was about to leave, Umm al-Haytham ؓ came out behind them and said: “O Messenger of Allah, by Allah I heard your greeting, but I wanted you to increase us in your greeting.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said good words to her and said: «Where is Abu al-Haytham? I do not see him.» She said: “He is nearby; he went to fetch us fresh water. Enter, for he will come soon, if Allah, exalted, wills.” She spread a mat for them under a tree. Then Abu al-Haytham came and rejoiced at them, and his eye was comforted by them. He climbed a palm tree and cut a bunch of dates. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: «That is enough for you, O Abu al-Haytham.» He said: “O Messenger of Allah, you will eat from its ripe dates, its unripe dates, and its hanging clusters.” Then he brought them water, and they drank after it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: «This is part of the bliss about which you will be asked.» Then Umm al-Haytham ؓ stood up to knead dough for them and bake bread. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr, and ʿUmar lay down for the midday nap. They woke up when their food was ready. The food was placed before them, and they ate until they were full and praised Allah, exalted. Umm al-Haytham ؓ returned to them the rest of the bunch, and they ate from its ripe dates and its clusters. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ greeted them and supplicated for them.
