✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ sought permission to enter upon Sa'd b. Ubadah, saying: "Peace be upon you and the mercy of God." Sa'd said: "And upon you be peace and the mercy of God," but he did not make the Prophet ﷺ hear, until he had greeted three times; Sa'd replied to him three times but did not make him hear. So the Prophet ﷺ turned back, and Sa'd followed him and said: "O Messenger of God, may my father and mother be your ransom; you did not utter a greeting but it was in my ear, and I replied to you but did not make you hear. I wanted to increase in your greetings and in blessing." Then he brought him into the house and offered him raisins, and the Prophet of God ﷺ ate. When he had finished, he said: "The righteous have eaten your food, the angels have prayed over you, and the fasting have broken their fast with you."
