✧ Two men brought a dispute before Muharib b. Dithar. He said: A man testified against one of them, and the one testified against said: “By Allah, I did not know that he was a truthful man; if you ask about him, he will surely be praised or deemed reliable, yet he testified falsely against me, and I do not know what emboldened him to do that.” Muharib said: “O man, fear Allah, for I heard ʿAbdullah b. ʿUmar ؓ say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, while admonishing a man that day.” Then he mentioned the hadith, and said: «Indeed, on the Day of Resurrection, the birds will beat their wings and cast out what is in their bellies, though they have no claim to be sought»
