وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، ثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنَ النَّخَعِ، قَالَ:
شَهِدْتُ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ ؓ حِينَ حَضَرَهُ الْمَوْتُ، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي مُحَدِّثُكُمْ حَدِيثًا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: « اعْبُدِ اللهَ تَعَالَى كَأَنَّكَ تَرَاهُ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ تَرَاهُ فَإِنَّهُ يَرَاكَ، وَعُدَّ نَفْسَكَ فِي الْمَوْتَى، وَاتَّقِ دَعَوَاتِ الْمَظْلُومِ فَإِنَّهَا تُسْتَجَابُ، وَمَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَشْهَدَ الْعِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةَ وَصَلَاةَ الْغَدَاةِ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ فَلْيَفْعَلْ وَلَوْ حَبْوًا
Translation

✧ I was present with Abū al-Dardāʾ ؓ when death came to him, and he said: I will tell you a hadith I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said: «Worship Allah Almighty as if you see Him; for if you do not see Him, He sees you. Count yourself among the dead. Beware of the supplication of the wronged, for it is answered. Whoever among you can attend the late evening prayer and the dawn prayer in congregation, let him do so, even if crawling.
