✧ Reason and its virtue

ثَنَا دَاوُدُ، ثَنَا عَبَّادٌ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ؓ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ:

لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ دِعَامَةٌ، وَدِعَامَةُ الْمُؤْمِنِ عَقْلُهُ، فَبِقَدْرِ عَقْلِهِ تَكُونُ عِبَادَةُ رَبِّهِ، أَمَا سَمِعْتُمْ قَوْلَ الْفَاجِرِ عِنْدَ نَدَامَتِهِ: لَوْ كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ أَوْ نَعْقِلُ مَا كُنَّا فِي أَصْحَابِ السَّعِيرِ

Translation

✧ For everything there is a support, and the support of the believer is his intellect. According to the measure of his intellect is his worship of his Lord. Have you not heard the saying of the wicked one at his regret: 'If only we had listened or used our intellect, we would not be among the companions of the Blaze.'
