حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ، ثَنَا عَبَّادٌ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ:
أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ قَالَ لِتَمِيمٍ الدَّارِيِّ ؓ: مَا السُّؤْدُدُ فِيكُمْ ؟ قَالَ: الْعَقْلُ، قَالَ: صَدَقْتَ، سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَمَا سَأَلْتُكَ، فَقَالَ كَمَا قُلْتَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ: مَا السُّؤْدُدُ فِي النَّاسِ ؟ فَقَالَ: الْعَقْلُ

I asked the Messenger of God ﷺ just as I asked you, and he said just as you said. Then he said: I asked Gabriel ﷺ: What is sovereignty among people? He said: Intellect.
