✧ Umar, Abu Hurayrah, and Ubayy b. Ka'b entered upon the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of God, who is the most knowledgeable of people?' He ﷺ said: 'The intelligent one.' They said: 'Then who is the most devoted worshipper among people?' He ﷺ said: 'The intelligent one.' They said: 'Then who is the most virtuous of people?' He said: 'The intelligent one.' They said: 'O Messenger of God, is not the intelligent one the one whose manliness is complete, whose eloquence is evident, and whose status is great?' He said: 'Indeed all of that is but the enjoyment of the worldly life (the verse), but the intelligent one is the one who is God-fearing, even if in this world he is lowly, remote, and humble.'
