✧ 'O my son, I command you with two things and forbid you from two things: I forbid you from associating anything with God, for whoever associates anything with God, God has forbidden Paradise to him; and I forbid you from arrogance, for no one whose heart contains a mustard seed of arrogance will enter Paradise. And I command you to say: There is no god but God alone, with no partner; His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is over all things competent, for if the heavens were a ring, it would break them. And I command you to say: Glory be to God and with His praise, for it is the prayer of creation and the glorification of creation, and by it creation is provided sustenance.' A man said, 'O Messenger of God, is it arrogance for a man to have a riding animal he rides, or a garment he wears, or food to which he invites his companions?' He ﷺ said, 'No, but arrogance is to reject the truth and disparage people. I shall inform you of five things; whoever has them is not arrogant: tethering a sheep, wearing wool, riding a donkey, sitting with the poor believers, and a man eating with his family.'
