✧ Prohibition of Seeking Treatment with the Unlawful

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، عَنْ حَسَّانَ بْنِ مُخَارِقٍ، قَالَ: قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ ؓ:

اشْتَكَتِ ابْنَةٌ لِي، فَنَبَذْتُ لَهَا فِي تَوْرٍ، فَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَغْلِي، فَقَالَ: « مَا هَذَا ؟ » فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّ ابْنَتِي اشْتَكَتْ فَنَبَذْتُ لَهَا هَذَا، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: « إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَمْ يَجْعَلْ شِفَاءَكُمْ فِي حَرَامٍ »

✧ A daughter of mine complained of illness, so I steeped something for her in a brass vessel. The Prophet ﷺ entered while it was boiling and said, "What is this?" I said, "My daughter is ill, so I steeped this for her." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has not placed your cure in what is unlawful."
