حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا يُقَالُ لَهُ: سُوَيْدُ بْنُ طَارِقٍ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ الْخَمْرِ، فَنَهَاهُ عَنْهَا، فَقَالَ: إِنَّمَا أَصْنَعُهَا لِلدَّوَاءِ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: إِنَّهَا دَاءٌ وَلَيْسَتْ بِدَوَاءٍ

Translation

✧ A man called Suwaid ibn Tariq asked the Prophet ﷺ about wine, and he forbade it. He said, "I make it for medicine," so the Prophet ﷺ said: "It is a disease and not a cure."
