✧ Virtue of visiting the sick

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِشَامٍ الرِّفَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ، عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ ؓ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ:

« إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ إِذَا خَرَجَ يُرِيدُ أَخًا مُؤْمِنًا يَعُودُهُ، خَاضَ فِي الرَّحْمَةِ إِلَى حَقْوَيْهِ، فَإِذَا جَلَسَ عِنْدَ الْمَرِيضِ وَاسْتَوَى جَالِسًا غَمَرَتْهُ الرَّحْمَةُ

✧ “When a man goes out intending to visit a believing brother, he wades in mercy up to his waist. When he sits by the sick person and settles down, mercy overwhelms him.”
