✧ The Virtue of Prayer

قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ: أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ، ثَنَا حَمَّادٌ هُوَ ابْنُ سَلَمَةَ، أَنَا مَعْبَدٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا فُلَانٌ، وَهُوَ فِي مَسْجِدِ دِمَشْقَ، عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ:

إِنَّ أَبَا ذَرٍّ ؓ جَلَسَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ مِثْلَ حَدِيثٍ قَبْلَهُ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَمَا الصَّلَاةُ ؟ قَالَ ﷺ: « خَيْرٌ مَوْضُوعٌ، فَمَنْ شَاءَ أَقَلَّ مِنْهُ، وَمَنْ شَاءَ أَكْثَرَ

Translation

✧ Abu Dharr ؓ sat with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he mentioned a hadith similar to the one before it. He said: 'I said: O Messenger of Allah, what is prayer?' He ﷺ said: 'A good placed before you; whoever wishes may do less of it, and whoever wishes may do more.'
