حَدَّثَنَاهُ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ إِدْرِيسَ السَّامِرِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَرَفَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْعَبْدِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ السَّعْدِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالَ
دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَاغْتَنَمْتُ خَلْوَتَهُ فَقَالَ لِي «يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ إِنَّ لِلْمَسْجِدِ تَحِيَّةً» قُلْتُ وَمَا تَحِيَّتُهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «رَكْعَتَانِ» فَرَكَعْتُهُمَا ثُمَّ الْتَفَتَ إِلَيَّ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ أَمَرْتَنِي بِالصَّلَاةِ فَمَا الصَّلَاةُ؟ قَالَ «خَيْرٌ مَوْضُوعٌ فَمَنْ شَاءَ أَقَلَّ وَمَنْ شَاءَ أَكْثَرَ» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ الْأَعْمَالِ أَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «الْإِيمَانُ بِاللَّهِ» ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ إِلَى أَنْ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَمِ النَّبِيُّونَ؟ قَالَ «مِائَةُ أَلْفٍ وَأَرْبَعَةٌ وَعِشْرُونَ أَلْفَ نَبِيٍّ» قُلْتُ كَمِ الْمُرْسَلُونَ مِنْهُمْ؟ قَالَ «ثَلَاثُ مِائَةٍ وَثَلَاثَةَ عَشَرَ» وَذَكَرَ بَاقِيَ الْحَدِيثِالسعدي ليس بثقة

✧ I entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in the mosque, and I seized the opportunity of his privacy. He said to me: "O Abu Dharr, indeed the mosque has a greeting." I said: What is its greeting, O Messenger of Allah? He said: "Two rak'ahs." I prayed them, then he turned to me and I said: O Messenger of Allah, you commanded me to pray, but what is prayer? He said: "Goodness placed; whoever wishes may do little, and whoever wishes may do more." I said: O Messenger of Allah, which deeds are most beloved to Allah? He said: "Faith in Allah." Then he mentioned the hadith until he said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, how many are the prophets? He said: "One hundred twenty-four thousand prophets." I said: How many messengers are among them? He said: "Three hundred and thirteen." And he mentioned the rest of the hadith.
