- ﷺ
✧ Any man who appoints [a man] over ten people, knowing that among the ten there is one better than the one he appointed, has deceived Allah and His Messenger and deceived the community of Muslims. And the one who strikes beyond the prescribed limit will be brought and He will say: 'My servant, why did you strike beyond what I commanded you?' He will say: 'I was angry.' [He will say]: 'Was your anger to be more severe than My anger?' And the one who falls short will be brought and He will say: ['My servant, why did you fall short'?] [He will say: 'I had mercy on him']. He will say: 'Was your mercy to be greater than My mercy?' Then both of them will be commanded to be cast into the Fire.
