✧ I am holding you by your belts away from the Fire. Come away from the Fire! But you overcome me and plunge into it like moths and locusts. I am about to let go of your belts, and I will meet you at the Cistern. You will come to me together and in scattered groups, and I will recognize you by your marks and your names, just as a man recognizes a stray camel among his camels. But you will be taken away to the left. I appeal to the Lord of the Worlds concerning you, saying: 'O Lord, my people! O Lord, my Ummah!' He will say: 'O Muhammad, you do not know what they innovated after you; they kept walking backwards on their heels after you left.' Let me not find any of you on the Day of Resurrection carrying a bleating sheep and calling, 'O Muhammad, O Muhammad!' for I will say, 'I cannot avail you anything; I conveyed to you.' Let me not find any of you on the Day of Resurrection carrying a neighing horse and calling, 'O Muhammad, O Muhammad!' for I will say, 'I cannot avail you anything; I conveyed to you.' And let me not find any of you on the Day of Resurrection carrying a leather water-skin and calling, 'O Muhammad, O Muhammad!' for I will say, 'I cannot avail you anything; I conveyed to you.'

machine translationOn the authority of ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb, may God be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "I am holding on to your waist-wrappers, (pulling you back) from the Fire, but you overpower me, rushing into it as moths and locusts rush. I am about to let go of your waist-wrappers, and I will go ahead of you to the Pond, and you will come to me together and in separate groups. I will recognize you by your names and your marks, as a man recognizes a stray camel among his camels. Then you will be taken to the left, and I will plead with the Lord of the worlds concerning you: 'My Lord, my people! My Lord, my community!' Then it will be said: 'You do not know what they innovated after you; they kept walking backwards.'" Aḥmad b. Zuhayr said: I heard Yaḥyā b. Maʿīn say: Yaʿqūb al-Qummī is sound in hadith (ṣāliḥ al-ḥadīth). Abū ʿUmar said: Ḥafṣ b. Ḥumayd is trustworthy (thiqah), a Kufan, and the others in this chain are too well known to need mentioning.
