✧ Making a Treaty with the Polytheists

قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ: أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، ثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، عَنِ الْمُجَالِدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ ؓ، قَالَ:

لَمَّا قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْمَدِينَةَ جَاءَتْهُ جُهَيْنَةُ، فَقَالُوا لَهُ: إِنَّكَ قَدْ نَزَلْتَ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِنَا فَأَوْثِقْ لَنَا حَتَّى نَأْمَنَكَ وَتَأْمَنَّا. قَالَ: فَأَوْثَقَ لَهُمْ وَلَمْ يُسْلِمُوا

Translation

✧ When the Prophet ﷺ came to Madinah, Juhaynah came to him and said: 'You have settled among us, so make a pact with us so that we feel secure from you and you feel secure from us.' He made a pact with them, and they did not embrace Islam.
