✧ The amount of discretionary punishment

وَحَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ، ثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، ثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ بْنِ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ:

أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ، وَكَانَ لَهُ غِلْمَانٌ فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِنْ قُرَى الرُّومِ، فَاقْتَتَلُوا فَضَرَبَ كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَسْوَاطٍ

Translation

✧ He narrated to him — and he had slave boys in a village among the villages of the Romans — they fought each other, so he struck each of them three lashes.
