✧ The amount of discretionary punishment

قَالَ الْحَارِثُ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبَانَ، ثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ بْنِ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ؓ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

لَا يَحِلُّ لِمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ أَنْ يَجْلِدَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ عَشْرِ أَسْوَاطٍ إِلَّا فِي حَدٍّ

✧ It is not permissible for anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day to flog more than ten lashes except in the case of a prescribed punishment.
