✧ The Prescribed Punishment for Theft

وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ:

أَنَّهُ أَتَى عُمَرَ ؓ بِغُلَامٍ لَهُ سَرَقَ، قَالَ: إِنَّ هَذَا سَرَقَ مِرْآةً لِأَهْلِي، وَهِيَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ سِتِّينَ دِرْهَمًا، قَالَ: خَادِمُكُمْ أَخَذَ مَتَاعَكُمْ

Translation

✧ He brought a slave of his to Umar ؓ who had stolen. He said: This one stole a mirror belonging to my family, and it is worth more than sixty dirhams. He said: Your servant took your goods.
