قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ: أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ:

كَانَتْ أُمُّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتُ عُقْبَةَ تَحْتَ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِ، فَخَرَجَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ، وَقَدْ ضَرَبَهَا الطَّلْقُ، فَكَتَمَتْهُ، فَقَالَتْ لَهُ: طَيِّبْ قَلْبِي بِتَطْلِيقَةٍ، فَطَلَّقَهَا، وَرَجَعَ وَقَدْ وَضَعَتْ. فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ، فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ: « بَلَغَ الْكِتَابُ أَجَلَهُ، اخْطُبْهَا إِلَى نَفْسِهَا ». فَقَالَ: مَا لَهَا خَدَعَتْنِي خَدَعَهَا اللهُ تَعَالَى.

✧ Umm Kulthum bt. 'Uqbah was married to al-Zubayr b. al-'Awwam. He went out for prayer while she was in labor. She concealed it from him, and said to him: "Put my heart at ease with a divorce." So he divorced her. When he returned, she had already given birth. He went to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him, and he said: "The term has reached its appointed time. Propose to her." He said: "She deceived me, may Allah Almighty deceive her."
