قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَوْنٍ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ الْحَنَفِيِّ قَالَ:
إِنَّ ابْنَ الْكَوَّاءِ سَأَلَ عَلِيًّا ؓ عَنِ الْأَمَتَيْنِ الْأُخْتَيْنِ، فَقَالَ: « أَحَلَّتْهُمَا آيَةٌ، وَحَرَّمَتْهُمَا آيَةٌ، وَلَا أَفْعَلُهُ أَنَا، وَلَا أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِي، وَلَا أُحِلُّهُ، وَلَا أُحَرِّمُهُ ».

✧ Ibn al-Kawwa' asked 'Ali ؓ about two slave-girls who were sisters. He said: "One verse permitted them and another verse forbade them. Neither I nor anyone from my household would do it, nor would I declare it lawful or unlawful."
