قَالَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ الْبَجَلِيِّ، قَالَ:
شَهِدْتُ ثَابِتَ بْنَ وَدِيعَةَ، وَقَرَظَةَ بْنَ كَعْبٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ فِي عُرْسٍ، فَإِذَا غِنَاءٌ، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ فِي ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ: « إِنَّهُ رُخِّصَ فِي الْغِنَاءِ فِي الْعُرْسِ، وَالْبُكَاءِ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ فِي غَيْرِ نِيَاحَةٍ

✧ I attended Thabit b. Wadi'ah and Qarazah b. Ka'b al-Ansari at a wedding, and there was singing. He spoke to them about that, and he said: 'Permission was granted for singing at weddings and for weeping over the dead without wailing.'
