أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ / 2 -: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قَطَنٍ، بَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ:
دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، وَثَابِتِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، وَقَرَظَةَ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، وَعِنْدَهُمْ جَوَارٍ يُغَنِّينَ وَرَيْحَانٌ، قُلْتُ: تَفْعَلُونَ هَذَا ؟! قَالُوا: « إِنَّهُ رُخِّصَ لَنَا فِي الْغِنَاءِ فِي الْعُرْسِ، وَالْبُكَاءِ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ مِنْ غَيْرِ نَوْحٍ

✧ I entered upon 'Uqbah b. 'Amr, Thabit b. Yazid, and Qarazah b. Ka'b, and with them were slave girls singing and fragrant herbs. I said: 'You do this?!' They said: 'Permission was granted to us for singing at weddings and weeping over the dead without wailing.'
