✧ A man said to Umar ؓ: 'I have a daughter whom I buried alive in the Jahiliyyah, and I brought her out and she became Muslim. Then she committed a sin punishable by a hadd, so she took a knife and slaughtered herself. I reached her after she had cut some of her jugular veins, so I treated her and she recovered. Then she became devout and devoted herself to the Quran. Now she is being proposed to, but what happened to her prevents me [from mentioning it].' Umar ؓ said: 'Would you intend to uncover a cover that Allah Almighty has concealed? If I learn that you mention anything of her affair, I will make you an example for the people of the cities. Rather, marry her off as a chaste Muslim woman.'
