✧ A group of people gathered and said, "If only we could send to the wives of the Prophet ﷺ and ask them about his character ﷺ." So they sent to them, and they said, "The Messenger of God ﷺ prays and sleeps, fasts and breaks his fast, and marries women." They said, "The Messenger of God ﷺ has been forgiven his past and future sins." Some of them said, "I will pray all night and not sleep." Others said, "I will fast every day and not break my fast." Others said, "I will abstain from women and not approach them, for they are a distraction." The Prophet ﷺ learned of that and said, "What is the matter with men who spy on the affairs of their Prophet, and when they are informed of it, they turn away from it, so one of them says such and such, and another says such and such?" Then the Messenger of God ﷺ said, "But I sleep and pray, break my fast and fast, and marry women. Whoever turns away from my Sunnah is not of me."
