وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مَسْمُولٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ قَاسِمَ بْنَ مُخَوَّلٍ الْبَهْزِيَّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبِي - وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةَ وَالْإِسْلَامَ - قَالَ:
قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، نَلْقَى الْإِبِلَ وَبِهَا لَبَنٌ، وَهِيَ مُصَرَّاةٌ، وَنَحْنُ مُحْتَاجُونَ ؟ قَالَ ﷺ: نَادِ صَاحِبَ الْإِبِلِ ثَلَاثًا، فَإِنْ جَاءَ وَإِلَّا فَاحْلُلْ صِرَارَهَا ثُمَّ اشْرَبْ، ثُمَّ صُرَّ وَأَبْقِ لِلَّبَنِ ذَوَاعِيَهُ، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، الضَّوَالُّ تَرِدُ عَلَيْنَا، هَلْ لَنَا أَجْرٌ أَنْ نَسْقِيَهَا ؟ قَالَ ﷺ: نَعَمْ، فِي كُلِّ ذَاتِ كَبِدٍ حَرَّاءَ أَجْرٌ

✧ I said: O Messenger of God, we come upon camels that have milk, and they are kept from being milked, while we are in need. He ﷺ said: Call out for the owner of the camels three times. If he comes, then (leave them); otherwise, untie their udder straps, then drink, then tie them again, and leave for the milk its natural channels. I said: O Messenger of God, stray animals come to us; do we have reward if we give them water? He ﷺ said: Yes, in every living being with a warm liver there is reward.
