✧ The Sunnah of Breaking the Fast with Dates, Fresh Dates, or What Fire Has Not Touched

وَقَالَ عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو هُوَ أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ، ثَنَا زَمْعَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ بَعْضِ أَهْلِ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ ؓ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ:
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا كَانَ الرُّطَبُ لَمْ يُفْطِرْ إِلَّا عَلَى الرُّطَبِ، وَإِذَا لَمْ يَكُنِ الرُّطَبُ لَمْ يُفْطِرْ إِلَّا عَلَى التَّمْرِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when there were fresh dates, would not break his fast except on fresh dates; and when there were no fresh dates, he would not break his fast except on dry dates.
