✧ Urging charity and its virtue

إِسْحَاقُ: حَدَّثَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ، أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو قُرَّةَ هُوَ الْأَسَدِيُّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ قَالَ:

ذُكِرَ لِي أَنَّ الْأَعْمَالَ تَتَبَاهَى، فَتَقُولُ الصَّدَقَةُ: أَنَا أَفْضَلُكُمْ. قَالَ: وَقَالَ عُمَرُ ؓ: مَا مِنِ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ يَتَصَدَّقُ بِزَوْجَيْنِ مِنْ مَالِهِ إِلَّا ابْتَدَرَتْهُ حَجَبَةُ الْجَنَّةِ

Translation

✧ It was mentioned to me that deeds will boast to one another, and charity will say: "I am the best of you." And Umar ؓ said: "No Muslim gives a pair of anything from his wealth as charity except that the gatekeepers of Paradise rush to receive him."
