✧ Dislike of Mentioning Allah Most High Without Wudu

قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ بْنِ الرَّاهِبِ قَالَ:

إِنَّ رَجُلًا سَلَّمَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى تَمَسَّحَ، وَقَالَ: « لَمْ يَمْنَعْنِي أَنْ أَرُدَّ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا أَنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ مُتَوَضِّئًا ». أَوْ قَالَ: لَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى تَمَسَّحَ وَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ

Translation

✧ A man greeted the Prophet ﷺ, but he did not respond until he had wiped (with dry earth). Then he said: “Nothing prevented me from responding to you except that I was not in a state of wudu.” Or he said: He did not respond until he had wiped and then responded.
