What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationOf the hadiths reported on the manner of tayammum, none is authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) except the hadith of Abū Juhaym.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 17746
  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationOf the narrations that describe the manner of tayammum, none is authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) except the hadith of Abū Juhaym and that of ʿAmmār. Everything other than these two is either weak (ḍaʿīf) or disputed as to whether it is raised (marfūʿ) or stopped (mawqūf), and the preponderant view is that it is not raised.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 17746
  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationWhat is established in the hadith of Abū Juhaym is the wording "his hands", not "his forearms", for the latter is an anomalous (shādhdh) narration.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 17746
