Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father that A'isha, umm al-muminin said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray thirteen rakas in the night and then would pray two rakas when he heard the adhan for the subh prayer."

What scholars said about it
In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.
- Qurṭubī
machine translationThe reports of ʿĀʾishah were problematic for many scholars, so much so that some of them attributed inconsistency (iḍṭirāb) to her hadith. But this would hold only if the narrator from her were one person and she had reported about a single time. The correct view is that everything she mentioned of that is to be understood as referring to several different times and varying circumstances, according to energy and to show what is permissible.
machine translationSome of those who did not reflect mentioned that the report of ʿĀʾishah is inconsistent (iḍṭirāb) regarding the Hajj, suckling, the night prayer of the Prophet ﷺ, and the shortening of the prayer while travelling. He said: this is a mistake on the part of whoever said it.
in موطأ مالك, p. 248 - Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr
machine translationMost of the memorizers (ḥuffāẓ) narrated this hadith from Hishām just as Mālik narrated it.
in موطأ مالك, p. 248 - Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr
machine translationThe report that contradicts Mālik's report in this hadith of Hishām b. ʿUrwah was narrated from Hishām only by the people of Iraq. What Hishām narrated in Medina, before he left for Iraq, is more sound according to them.
