machine translationA weak (ḍaʿīf) hadith, and the reason for its weakness is that its transmission revolves around al-Ḥārith b. Wajīh.

machine translationHe is not corroborated in it, and he has more than one rejected (munkar) hadith. This hadith has another chain besides this one, which also has some weakness.

  • Bazzār

machine translationWe do not know that Mālik transmitted anything with a connected chain (musnad) from Ibn Sīrīn except this hadith, and we do not know that anyone narrated it from Mālik except Ibn Wajīh.

  • Khaṭṭābī

machine translationThis hadith is weak (ḍaʿīf), and al-Ḥārith is unknown (majhūl).

  • Maghlaṭay

machine translationAl-Khaṭṭābī said: This hadith is weak (ḍaʿīf) and al-Ḥārith is unknown (majhūl); it may be used as evidence by those who make rinsing the nose obligatory in the state of major ritual impurity. His words end here. There is room for objection in his saying 'unknown'. If he meant unknown in identity, it is refuted by what we mentioned earlier of al-Tirmidhī's statement that more than one of the imams narrated from him. If he meant unknown in condition, it is likewise so, for what we mentioned before. And in the book of al-Bayhaqī, the statement that al-Ḥasan's hearing from Abū Hurayrah is not established is open to objection, because of what we mentioned earlier about the establishment of his hearing from him.

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationIts transmission revolves around al-Ḥārith b. Wajbah, and he is very weak (ḍaʿīf jiddan).

  • Shafiʿī

machine translationHe declared it weak and claimed that it is not established.
