What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

machine translationIt is a mursal report (mursal); Saʿīd did not meet Saʿd.

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationIt is a mursal report (mursal) because Saʿīd was born in the year that Saʿd died. As for Ibn Ḥibbān's authentication of it, it is open to criticism on the basis of his own condition of continuity of the chain (ittiṣāl).
