Show the chain

'I saw Abu Hurairah hitting his forehead with his hand and saying: "O people of Iraq! Do you claim that I would tell a lie against the Messenger of Allah so that it may be more convenient for you and a sin upon me?' I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'If a dog licks the vessel of anyone of you, let him wash it seven times.'"

  • Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī

machine translationKhallās narrated it from Abū Rāfiʿ from Abū Hurayrah: "the first of them." al-Bayhaqī said: It is strange (gharīb); if Muʿādh preserved it, meaning from his father, from Qatādah, from Khallās, then it is good (ḥasan), because no trustworthy (thiqah) narrator reported the mention of earth (turāb) in this hadith from Abū Hurayrah other than Ibn Sīrīn.
