✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to perform Hajj, and a woman said to her husband, 'Take me to perform Hajj with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' He said, 'I do not have what to take you on.' She said, 'Then take me on your old camel.' He said, 'That one I and your child use in turns.' She said, 'Take me on your such-and-such camel.' He said, 'That one is dedicated for the sake of Allah.' She said, 'Then sell [the dates of your storage].' He said, 'That is my food and yours.' He said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned from Makkah, she sent her husband to him, and she said, 'Convey my greetings and the mercy of Allah to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and ask him what equals a Hajj with you.' Her husband came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, my wife conveys her greetings and the mercy of Allah to you, and she had asked me to take her to perform Hajj with you. I said to her, "I do not have what to take you on." She said, "Take me on your such-and-such camel." I said to her, "That one is dedicated for the sake of Allah."' He said: "As for you, if you had taken her, it would have been for the sake of Allah." She said, 'Take me on your old camel.' I said, 'That one I and your child use in turns.' She said, 'Then sell [the dates of your storage].' I said, 'That is my food and yours.'" He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed in wonder at her eagerness for Hajj. "And she ordered me to ask you what equals a Hajj with you." He said: "Convey my greetings and the mercy of Allah to her, and inform her that an 'Umrah in Ramadan equals a Hajj with me."
