✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to give charity and said: “Give charity, O assembly of women, even from your jewelry.” She said: I was supporting Abdullah and my daughters were in my care, so I said to Abdullah: “Go to the Prophet ﷺ and ask him whether it is sufficient for me if I give it to you along with charity?” He said: “No, rather go to him and ask him.” She said: So I went to him and sat at the door, and awe had been cast upon me. I found a woman from the Ansar whose need was like mine. Bilal came out to us, so we said: “Ask him, but do not tell the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who we are.” He said: “Two women who support their husbands and orphans in their care, is that sufficient for them as charity?” He said to him: “Who are they?” He said: “Zaynab and a woman from the Ansar.” He said: “Which Zaynab?” He said: “The wife of Abdullah b. Mas'ud and a woman from the Ansar.” He said: “Yes, they will have two rewards: the reward of kinship and the reward of charity.”
