✧ We used to give the charity of Fitr, when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was among us, as a saa' of food, or a saa' of dates, or a saa' of barley, or a saa' of raisins, or a saa' of aqit. And we continued to do so until Mu'awiyah came to us from Syria to Madinah on a visit, and among what he said to the people was: I do not think that two mudds of Syrian wheat are equivalent except to a saa' of this. So the people adopted that. Abu Sa'id said: I will continue to give it as I used to give it at the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forever, or as long as I live.
