✧ I set out with Husayn b. Samurah and Amr b. Muslim to Zayd b. Arqam, and we sat with him. Husayn said to him: O Zayd, you saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, prayed behind him, heard his hadith, and went on campaigns with him. You have attained great good, O Zayd. Narrate to us, O Zayd, a hadith you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and what you witnessed with him. He said: Yes, O son of my brother, my time has grown distant, my age has advanced, and I have forgotten some of what I used to retain from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Whatever I narrate to you, accept it; and whatever I do not narrate, do not burden me with it. He said: He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood one day as a preacher among us at a watering place called Khumm, praised Allah and extolled Him, admonished and reminded, then said: Now then, O people, I am only a human being; the messenger of my Lord is about to come to me and I will answer him. I am leaving among you the two weighty things: the first is the Book of Allah, in which there is guidance and light. Whoever holds fast to it and takes it will be upon guidance, and whoever abandons it and misses it will be upon misguidance. And my household. I remind you of Allah regarding my household.' Three times. Husayn said: So who are the people of his household, O Zayd? Are not his wives from his household? He said: Yes, his wives are from his household, but his household are those who are forbidden from charity. He said: Who are they? He said: 'The family of Ali, the family of Aqil, the family of Ja'far, and the family of al-Abbas.' Husayn said: And all of these are forbidden from charity? He said: 'Yes.'
