✧ That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon Sa'd to visit him in Makkah. He said: Sa'd wept, and the Prophet ﷺ said: 'What makes you weep?' He said: I feared that I might die in the land from which I emigrated, as Sa'd b. Khawlah died. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'O Allah, cure Sa'd; O Allah, cure Sa'd.' He said: O Messenger of Allah, I have abundant wealth, and only a daughter will inherit from me. Should I bequeath all my wealth? He said: 'No.' He said: Then two-thirds? He said: 'No.' He said: Then half? He said: 'No.' He said: Then a third. He said: 'A third, and a third is much. Your charity from your wealth is charity; and your spending on your dependents is charity for you; and what your wife eats from your food is charity for you; and if you leave your family in good condition — or he said: with a livelihood — it is better for you than leaving them destitute, begging from people.'
