✧ I came to Abu Sa'id while he was surrounded by people. When the people dispersed from him, I said: I will not ask you about what these people ask you. I asked him about fasting during travel. He said: We traveled with the Messenger of God ﷺ to Mecca while we were fasting. We stopped at a place, and the Messenger of God ﷺ said: You have drawn near your enemy, and breaking the fast is stronger for you. So it was a concession. Among us were those who fasted and those who broke the fast. Then we stopped at another place, and he said: You will encounter your enemy in the morning, and breaking the fast is stronger for you, so break the fast. It was a firm command, so we broke the fast. Then he said: I saw us fasting with the Messenger of God ﷺ after that during travel.
