أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَفْلَتُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَتْنِي جَسْرَةُ بِنْتُ دَجَاجَةَ قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ:

جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَوُجُوهُ بُيُوتِ أَصْحَابِهِ شَارِعَةٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، فَقَالَ: " وَجِّهُوا هَذِهِ الْبُيُوتَ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ "، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَلَمْ يَصْنَعِ الْقَوْمُ شَيْئًا رَجَاءَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ لَهُمْ فِي ذَلِكَ رُخْصَةٌ، فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْهِمْ بَعْدُ، فَقَالَ: وَجِّهُوا هَذِهِ الْبُيُوتَ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ؛ فَإِنِّي لَا أُحِلُّ الْمَسْجِدَ لِحَائِضٍ وَلَا جُنُبٍ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came while the entrances of his companions' houses opened into the mosque, and he said: "Turn these houses away from the mosque." Then the Prophet ﷺ entered, but the people did nothing, hoping that a concession would be revealed for them regarding that. He later came out to them and said: Turn these houses away from the mosque, for I do not permit the mosque for a menstruating woman or a person in a state of major ritual impurity.
