أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ، وَابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، [وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ] وَسَهْلُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، وَعَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ الثَّقَفِيُّ، قَالُوا: حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ، عَنْ أَبِي رَجَاءٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ:
كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ، فَدَعَا فُلَانًا وَدَعَا عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، فَقَالَ: اذْهَبَا فَابْغِيَا لَنَا الْمَاءَ، فَانْطَلَقَا فَلَقِيَا امْرَأَةً بَيْنَ سَطِيحَتَيْنِ - أَوْ بَيْنَ مَزَادَتَيْنِ - عَلَى بَعِيرٍ، فَقَالَا لَهَا: أَيْنَ الْمَاءُ ؟ قَالَتْ: عَهْدِي بِالْمَاءِ أَمْسِ هَذِهِ السَّاعَةَ، وَنَفَرْنَا خُلُوفًا، فَقَالَ لَهَا: انْطَلِقِي، فَقَالَتْ: أَيْنَ ؟ قَالَا لَهَا: إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَتْ: هَذَا الَّذِي يُقَالُ لَهُ الصَّابِئُ ؟ قَالَا لَهَا: هُوَ الَّذِي تَعْنِينَ، فَانْطَلَقَا فَجَاءَا بِهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَحَدَّثَاهُ الْحَدِيثَ، فَقَالَ: " اسْتَنْزِلُوهَا مِنْ بَعِيرِهَا "، وَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِإِنَاءٍ، فَجَعَلَ فِيهِ أَفْوَاهَ الْمَزَادَتَيْنِ أَوِ السَّطِيحَتَيْنِ، قَالَا: ثُمَّ مَضْمَضَ، ثُمَّ أَعَادَهُ فِي أَفْوَاهِ الْمَزَادَتَيْنِ - أَوِ السَّطِيحَتَيْنِ -، ثُمَّ أَطْلَقَ أَفْوَاهَهُمَا، ثُمَّ نُودِيَ فِي النَّاسِ أَنِ اسْقُوا وَاسْتَقُوا.

✧ We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey. He called so-and-so and Ali b. Abi Talib and said, "Go and search for water for us." They went and met a woman between two large water skins - or between two leather water bags - on a camel. They said to her, "Where is water?" She said, "My last sight of water was yesterday at this hour, and our men are away." They said to her, "Come with us." She said, "Where to?" They said, "To the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." She said, "The one called the Sabian?" They said, "He is the one you mean." They went and brought her to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him the story. He said, "Bring her down from her camel." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for a vessel and put the mouths of the two water skins - or the two large skins - into it. He rinsed his mouth and returned the water into the mouths of the two water skins - or the two large skins. Then he closed their mouths and called out to the people, "Give water and take water."
