Mention of what God revealed in the Qurʾān concerning Uḥud
[ النَّهْيُ عَنْ الرِّبَا ] ثُمَّ قَالَ: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَأْكُلُوا الرِّبَا أَضْعَافًا مُضَاعَفَةً؛ أَيْ لَا تَأْكُلُوا فِي الْإِسْلَامِ، إذْ هَدَاكُمْ اللَّهُ بِهِ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَأْكُلُونَ إذْ أَنْتُمْ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ، مِمَّا لَا يَحِلُّ لَكُمْ فِي دِينِكُمْ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ أَيْ فَأَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَنْجُونَ مِمَّا حَذَّرَكُمْ اللَّهُ مِنْ عَذَابِهِ، تُدْرِكُونَ مَا رَغَّبَكُمْ اللَّهُ فِيهِ مِنْ ثَوَابِهِ، وَاتَّقُوا النَّارَ الَّتِي أُعِدَّتْ لِلْكَافِرِينَ أَيْ الَّتِي جُعِلَتْ دَارًا لِمِنْ كَفَرَ بِي
Translation
✧ [The prohibition of usury] Then He said: O you who believe, do not consume usury, doubled and multiplied; that is, do not consume in Islam—since Allah has guided you by it—what you used to consume when you were upon other than it, of that which is not lawful for you in your religion. And fear Allah, that you may succeed; that is, obey Allah, that you may be saved from what Allah has warned you of His punishment, and attain what Allah has made you desirous of His reward. And fear the Fire which has been prepared for the disbelievers; that is, which has been made an abode for those who disbelieve in Me.
