What poetry was recited about the day of Badr
Translation
✧ [Poetry by Hassan about Badr also] Hassan b. Thabit al-Ansari also said: A secluded maiden in sleep has pierced your heart, giving the bedfellow a cold, smiling drink; like musk she mixes it with rain-cloud water, or aged wine like the blood of a slaughtered victim. Full of haunch, her garment folds well-ordered; simple, not quick to divide portions. She is built upon soft, ample cotton, as though, when she sits, her thighs are surplus marble. She almost too lazy to come; her bed is in a body soft-limbed and of beautiful stature. As for the day, I do not weary of remembering her, and at night my dreams bring her to me. You swore I would forget her and abandon her memory until my bones are hidden in the grave. O for one to blame me foolishly - I have disobeyed my blamers in passion. She came to me early at dawn after sleep and the nearness of the days' events. She claimed that a man's whole life is distressed by want of an accumulation of kinsmen. If you were lying in what you told me, then you escaped the escape of al-Harith b. Hisham. He left the loved ones rather than fight in their defense, and escaped with the head of a sleek, long-bodied mare and a bridle. The swift, noble horses left him in a desolate tract, the passing of the swift courser over hard, rocky ground. He filled the two sides with it and became ashen with it, while his loved ones remained in the worst abode. His father's sons and his clan were in a battle through which God granted victory to the people of Islam. A war ground them - and God executes His command - whose blaze is kindled with firewood. Had it not been for God and its course, they would have left him cut pieces for the beasts of prey and trampled him with their hooves. Among them are prisoners whose bonds are tightened, a falcon who defends when he meets the spear-points; and one thrown down who does not answer a call until the lofty mountains pass away. With shame and clear humiliation when he saw the white swords driving every noble one, in the hands of a shining, noble one who, when his lineage is traced, is not disgraced by the lineage of the short, a chief, a bold one. White swords that, when they meet iron, cut through like lightning beneath the shadows of every cloud.
