Mention of the Quraysh captives on the day of Badr
[ مَا فَاتَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ ذِكْرَهُمْ أَسْرَى قُرَيْشٍ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ ] قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: وَقَعَ مِنْ جُمْلَةِ الْعَدَدِ رَجُلٌ لَمْ نَذْكُرْ اسْمَهُ، وَمِمَّنْ لَمْ نَذْكُرْ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ مِنْ الْأُسَارَى: [ مِنْ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ] مِنْ بَنِي هَاشِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ: عُتْبَةُ، حَلِيفٌ لَهُمْ مِنْ بَنِي فِهْرٍ. رَجُلٌ. [ مِنْ بَنِي الْمُطَّلِبِ ] وَمِنْ بَنِي الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ: عَقِيلُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، حَلِيفٌ لَهُمْ؛ وَأَخُوهُ تَمِيمُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو؛ وَابْنُهُ ثَلَاثَةُ نَفَرٍ. [ مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ شَمْسٍ ] وَمِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ شَمْسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ: خَالِدُ بْنُ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي الْعِيصِ؛ وَأَبُو الْعَرِيضِ يَسَارٌ، مَوْلَى الْعَاصِ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ. رَجُلَانِ. [ مِنْ بَنِي نَوْفَلٍ ] وَمِنْ بَنِي نَوْفَلِ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ: نَبْهَانُ، مَوْلًى لَهُمْ. رَجُلٌ. [ مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ ] وَمِنْ بَنِي أَسَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى: عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ بْنِ زُهَيْرِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ. رَجُلٌ
Translation
✧ Ibn Hishām said: Among the total number there fell a man whose name we have not mentioned, and among those captives whom Ibn Isḥāq did not mention: [From Banū Hāshim] From Banū Hāshim b. ʿAbd Manāf: ʿUtbah, an ally of theirs from Banū Fihr. One man. [From Banū al-Muṭṭalib] And from Banū al-Muṭṭalib b. ʿAbd Manāf: ʿAqīl b. ʿAmr, an ally of theirs; and his brother Tamīm b. ʿAmr; and his son: three persons. [From Banū ʿAbd Shams] And from Banū ʿAbd Shams b. ʿAbd Manāf: Khālid b. Usayd b. Abī al-ʿĪṣ; and Abū al-ʿArīḍ Yasār, a client of al-ʿĀṣ b. Umayyah. Two men. [From Banū Nawfal] And from Banū Nawfal b. ʿAbd Manāf: Nabhān, a client of theirs. One man. [From Banū Asad] And from Banū Asad b. ʿAbd al-ʿUzzā: ʿAbd Allāh b. Ḥumayd b. Zuhayr b. al-Ḥārith. One man.
