Mention of the Quraysh captives on the day of Badr
[ مِنْ بَنِي عَامِرٍ أَسْرَى قُرَيْشٍ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ ] وَمِنْ بَنِي عَامِرِ بْنِ لُؤَيٍّ: سُهَيْلُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبْدِ شَمْسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ وُدِّ بْنِ نَصْرِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ حِسْلِ بْنِ عَامِرِ، أَسَرَهُ مَالِكُ بْنُ الدُّخْشُمِ، أَخُو بَنِي سَالِمِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ؛ وَعَبْدُ بْنُ زَمَعَةَ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ شَمْسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ وُدِّ بْنِ نَصْرِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ حِسْلِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ؛ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَشْنُوءِ بْنِ وَقْدَانُ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ شَمْسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ وُدِّ بْنِ نَصْرِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ حِسْلِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ. ثَلَاثَةُ نَفَرٍ. [ مِنْ بَنِي الْحَارِثِ أَسْرَى قُرَيْشٍ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ ] وَمِنْ بَنِي الْحَارِثِ بْنِ فِهْرٍ: الطُّفَيْلُ بْنُ أَبِي قُنَيْعٍ؛ وَعَتَبَةُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَحْدَمٍ. رَجُلَانِ. قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: فَجَمِيعُ مَنْ حُفِظَ لَنَا مِنْ الْأُسَارَى ثَلَاثَةٌ وَأَرْبَعُونَ رَجُلًا
Translation
✧ [From Banū ʿĀmir, the captives of Quraysh on the day of Badr] And from Banū ʿĀmir b. Luʾayy: Suhayl b. ʿAmr b. ʿAbd Shams b. ʿAbd Wudd b. Naṣr b. Mālik b. Ḥisl b. ʿĀmir. Mālik b. al-Dukhshum, the brother of Banū Sālim b. ʿAwf, took him captive; and ʿAbd b. Zamʿah b. Qays b. ʿAbd Shams b. ʿAbd Wudd b. Naṣr b. Mālik b. Ḥisl b. ʿĀmir; and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Mashnūʾ b. Waqdān b. Qays b. ʿAbd Shams b. ʿAbd Wudd b. Naṣr b. Mālik b. Ḥisl b. ʿĀmir. Three persons. [From Banū al-Ḥārith, the captives of Quraysh on the day of Badr] And from Banū al-Ḥārith b. Fihr: al-Ṭufayl b. Abī Qunayʿ; and ʿUtbah b. ʿAmr b. Jaḥdam. Two men. Ibn Isḥāq said: So the total of those captives who have been preserved for us is forty-three men.
