Kisrā and the sending of the Prophet ﷺ

Translation

✧ [Kisrā and the mission of the Prophet ﷺ] It has reached me from al-Zuhrī that he said: Kisrā wrote to Bādhān: “It has reached me that a man of Quraysh has come forth in Makkah, claiming that he is a prophet. Go to him and ask him to repent; if he repents, well and good, otherwise send me his head.” So Bādhān sent Kisrā’s letter to the Messenger of God ﷺ, and the Messenger of God ﷺ wrote to him: “God has promised me that Kisrā will be killed on such-and-such a day of such-and-such a month.” When the letter came to Bādhān, he paused to see, and said: “If he is a prophet, then what he said will come to pass.” And God killed Kisrā on the day which the Messenger of God ﷺ had stated. Ibn Hishām said: He was killed at the hands of his son Shīrawayh, and Khālid b. Ḥiqq al-Shaybānī said: And Kisrā, when his sons divided him with swords, as meat is divided up, the fates laboured with him for a day — how remote! — and every pregnant one has her full term.
