The Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr Seek News of Quraysh
Translation
✧ Ibn Isḥāq said: Basbas b. ʿAmr and ʿAdī b. Abī al-Zaghbāʾ had gone on until they alighted at Badr. They made their camels kneel by a hill near the water, then took a waterskin of theirs with which to draw water. Majdī b. ʿAmr al-Juhanī was at the water. ʿAdī and Basbas heard two slave-girls of the people of the settlement, while they were quarreling at the water, and the one being held to account said to her companion: "The caravan will only come tomorrow or the day after, so I will work for them and then pay you what I owe you." Majdī said: "You have spoken truly." Then he separated them. ʿAdī and Basbas heard that, so they mounted their two camels and departed until they came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and told him what they had heard.
